This here is a sorry excuse for an apology for being so inactive for a long time. University caught up with me and I have been spending a lot of time doing things other than drawing in the past couple of months. Mostly writing, be it essays or stories, and traveling across our small country to do various types of research on specific paintings for class. This is actually the first finished thing I've managed to crank out in a long time.
I have been sketching, of course. I have a little paperblanks sketchbook (Good lord, I love paperblanks <3) that I take with me on the train to class, which is a thirty-minute trip, give or take a few seconds. The sketches in it are usually small and loose and more often than not about either comic ideas or concepts for the story I am writing, so I'd rather not upload those. Maybe I'll filter a few neutral sketches and make a sketch dump out of them, so I can upload something from the past weeks, though.
So yeah, still using this paper texture as a background, mainly to cover up the dark patches the scanner made when scanning the image, which is actually too large for it. The right side of the paper got cut off a bit. I plan on making a new batch of original "old paper" sometime soon, though. I'll try to start using those when I finish them.
About this dragon here. I was flipping through the pages of a "guide to butterflies" that i found on the back of a shelf, when I saw a wing pattern that I liked. I drew this dragon to try out that pattern as well as the new watercolors I got for myself. The colors I chose are beautiful on paper (I adore orange and brown hues), but I changed the pattern on the wings quite a bit from the original to make it fit.
