Hey guys! I'm back from vacation! I didn't have all that much time to draw, this is about the only thing I could manage, but I had a whole lot of fun with other things for a change.

So this will be my only holiday sketch this year. (Can you tell I love drawing dragons perched on rocks?) Only medium used is my trusty mechanical pencil (doesn't take much space in the trunk X) )

I will get to finishing my trade parts and commenting and replying to all of you as soon as I can, but first there's stuff to unpack and people to visit and sleeping to catch up on. It's late as heck here, and I need to go to bed. I'll get back to all of you soon!

He's so cute! :aww: I'm not really sure what's going on with the lighting, but the shading defines his shape very well. And I agree with those who've commented on the flow of his pose. Very organic.

Naw, the light isn't supposed to come from anywhere in particular ^^ Like how the light falls when the sky is cloudy all over, it's kind of everywhere. If that's the case, I can easily use the shadows to define shape and even suggest some things are of a darker color than others, rather than show where the light is coming from. That makes the design less confusing to look at. It's kind of a dull way to present shadows though, so I usually only do this when trying to show a new character without any dramatized lighting. Like in a ref sheet or sketchbook ^^

Thanks for the nice comment! And for stopping by too ^^ it's appreciated.

Such a lovely, slinky beast . I like how it looks a little grouchy and miserly as well. Nicely done!

Oh my, I must have missed this comment D: I always try to reply on everything, certainly on the things my regulars say. I feel very derpy now :/

And you're right, he's supposed to be a bit grouchy ^^ A grumpy, greedy little dragon, stealing pearls of wisdom from others. I was trying to create a pose for him which would feel as if he was trying to protect his loot, with an "it's mine!"-face X) Hence the hunching pose, the clinging to the pearl and the rock, and the half-closed wings, acting as shields to close the dragon off from the outside world =)

Aw, sometimes its taken me months to reply to stuff, so no worries!

Hee. I like that idea of him being a thief of ideas! He's like a dragon version of Scrooge :XD:

Thank you so much =) Though it's not as much skill as it is the result of a lot of practice ^^ Anybody can get to my level and way beyond by practicing hard.

Thanks ^^ That means a lot. Often I see generic animals and creatures in somewhat static poses. It makes the creatures less real, so I try to vary my poses a bit =)
