Exams are finished now so I have some time to relax. I do not spend all of it on drawing, as I have done in the past, because I realized it gets me nowhere. If all I do in my spare time is frantically trying to come up with stuff to draw, inspiration does not strike. So I try to get out more and relax a bit. I'll be getting back to actively post here on deviantart soon, though.
I drew this picture as an exercise. I wanted to work on a steady hand and I figured a big inking job would do the trick. So I sketched something with a lot of confusing lines for me to ink with a dip pen. I liked the result after I was done and decided to add shading with a pencil. It's not a masterpiece, but it's kind of neat and I wanted to upload something to dA. So there it is.
Four heads connect in pairs of two. The rest of the coils are just bollocks X) This was originally planned as a smaller drawing, but I just kept adding coils. The original two and the two heads after that connect, but the later ones were just added without careful planning. The line in the middle is where the paper ends. Because I hadn't planned for the drawing to be this big, I went completely over the borders of the paper X) I wanted to edit it out, but it would look all blurry. So i left it in. I hope it doesn't bother any of you too much.
Oh gor...you did this with a dip pen!? That's amazing! Seriously, this looks great, and I'm VERY impressed with how steady a hand you managed to have...well done!
Thank you so much! ^^ I did the line art with a di(b/p, I never know how to spell this ) pen, yes, but the shading is done with a pencil. I originally didn't want to shade it and keep it as line art, but it looked so empty when I was finished D: So I shaded it anyway.
I love working with ink! If you just work fast, the lines won't be wobbly. You don't have to ponder every line for a long time, because that will take your concentration away
But of course! Ink is a great medium to work with! I've recently gotten myself a dip pen, and do hope to have some time this summer to try things out with it. You though, sir, a great at it! I will keep your advice to working fast in mind though; I'm a pretty slow drawer, so maybe the speed necessary to ink drawings will help me quicken the process a bit
That is *great* fun! I love all of the complicated coils and textures, and all of those toothy mouths. Awesome exercise piece; lots to look at and enjoy.

Can't wait to see your next ink work!
